Haya, David and Jorge have left at 14:30h towards Katmandu. Besides the unconditionals, girlfriends, relatives and friends who came to the airport, the new Dean of the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia Juan Julián has come, as well as the former Dean and the Vicerrector of Sports. The chairman of Sports of the City of Valencia Cristóbal Grau and journalists of the different local media have also come.\n\n \n\n\n\n

You could have seen a teardrop or two, but above all, three happy faces. \n\n \n\n\n\n

As in every expedition and after the hurry of the last days David, Jorge and Haya have finally breathed when they took their seats on the plane, although they were puzzled because of the empty seat next to them. Where was Endika? \n\n \n\n\n\n

Their worry went away when they though of the big steak at Everest Steak House in Katmandu, where this time they won't be able to finish their plate. \n\n \n\n\n\n

Tomorrow, Thursday, they will arrive to Katmandu where a lot of work awaits them with the mandatory visit to the Ministry of Tourism and the purchase of gas, oxygen, the generator and a long etcetera of needed gadgets. \n\n \n\n\n\n

This is their second expedition to Everest, this time via the South Face. They have already tried the North Face in 2001. They will hire two Sherpas for the expedition.\n\n \n\n\n\n

Previous feats:\n\n \n\n\n\n

· 1996 Bolivian Andes, summit of Illimani, 6490 m and other 6.000 m. peaks. \n\n \n\n\n\n

· 1998 Cho-Oyu. Jorge and Endika made it to the summit, 8.201 m. and David gave up just 700m. from the summit. \n\n \n\n\n\n

· 2.000 Manaslu (8.163m.), did not make it to the summit due to bad weather, first time in the Himalayas for Haya. \n\n \n\n\n\n

· 2.001 Everest North Face, Jorge reached the summit, 8.848m., David was 200m. down because of a malfunction of the oxygen equipment, and Endika around 500 m. below.\n\n \n\n\n\n

· 2.002 David, Jorge and Endika went to the Geographic North Pole after a trip of more than 20 days over frozen ocean. \n\n \n\n\n\n

· 2003 defeated by Nanga Parbat, just got to Camp II. \n\n \n\n\n\n

All the expeditions have been sponsored by Universidad Politécnica de Valencia. \n\n \n\n\n\n
