After knowing Palma we planned a route to take advantage to the maximum the days that we were going to be in the island. So we moved up to the East - we had a rented car- to visit the Caves of the Drac at the East. We already knew those of Aracena (Huelva) and those of Nerja (Malaga) but these have a particularity: you can walk yourself in boat. What an experience! Sailing to 25 meter under land. Certainly they do not leave you to do photos so you have to imagine it. Near there, one of the beautiful + typical coves of the island. And more in the southern part the Cove Pi, very narrow with limy walls that it is used as refuge to fishermen's boats and even to ships that sometimes stay there at night; and The Saline´s Cape from where you see the Cabrera´s archipelago.\n\n

También pasamos por Manacor donde hay multitud de tiendas que venden perlas -género típico de la isla- carísimas por cierto.

Aunque la “perla” verdadera de Manacor es su restaurante Ca´n Guixa. Comida de diseño a precios asequible en un edificio adornado con un gusto exquisito.

Y para alegrarte la vista, su iglesia, con aspecto de catedral, de la Mare de Déu dels Dolors.

\nWe also visited Manacor where there is multitude of shops that sell pearls - typical island´s item - reallly expensive certainly. Though Manacor's real "pearl" is its restaurant Ca'n Guixa. Food of design with affordable prices in a building adorned with an exquisite taste. Anothe “pearl” of the city is its church with aspect of cathedral: the Mare de Déu dels Dolors.

Volviendo a las perlas, yo me compré un collar pero en otra ciudad mallorquina que tiene una escalinata de tantos peldaños como días tiene el año: Pollensa.

Esta tienda, Ideas, está en el comienzo de las escaleras y tiene unas cosas divinas.

En este look de oficina os lo muestro. El anillo también es de allí.\n\nReturning to pearls, I bought myself a necklace but in another Majorcan city that has a stair of so many steps as days it has the year: Pollensa. This shop called “Ideas” is in the beginning of the stair and has a few divine things. In this picture I show you it. The ring is also from there.

En Pollensa también hay que ver este puente romano sobre el seco Sant Jordi y llegar hasta el

cabo Formentor donde está el mítico hotel, de 1929, del mismo nombre por donde pasaron famosos personajes como: Grace Kelly, Charles Chaplin o Winston Churchill. El único problema es que cierra desde septiembre hasta marzo así que nos quedamos con las ganas de disfrutarlo. ¡Será posible!\n\nIn Pollensa it also is necessary to see this Roman bridge over the dry Saint George and come up to the Cape Formentor where there is the mythical hotel, from 1929, of the same name where famous prominent figures passed like: Grace Kelly, Charles Chaplin or Winston Churchill. The only problem was that it is closed from September until March so we remained with the desires of enjoying it.\n

Al oeste ya entramos en la Sierra de Tramontana.

Valldemossa, es otro de sus puntos más turísticos. Allí residió, el invierno de 1838, Frederic Chopin, el pianista, acompañado por la escritora George Sand. En la Cartuja se puede visitar sus aposentos. Allí también está el museo contemporáneo con obras de Miró y Picasso y el Palacio del Rey Sancho, donde estuvo preso el ministro de Carlos V, Jovellanos, hasta que fue trasladado al Castillo de Bellver en Palma; y por donde pasaron como viajeros: Rubén Darío, Unamuno y Azorín. Todo un placer pasear por sus habitaciones llenas de recuerdos…

Y antes de marcharte hay que degustar su típico chocolate caliente en Aromas, c/ Rosa 24, en alguna de su multitud de variedades aromáticas.

Allí también tiene su residencia de vacaciones Michael Douglas y su fundación Costa Nord.

Y por supuesto no hay que dejar de pasear por sus floridas calles.

In the western part we enter Tramontana's Mountain. Valldemossa, is one of its most tourist points. There resided, the winter of 1838, Frederic Chopin, the pianist, accompanied by the nicknamed writer George Sand. In the Monastery it´s possible to visit their rooms. There also the contemporary museum with works of Miro and Picasso and the Palace of the King Sancho, where was imprisoned the minister of Carlos V, Jovellanos, until he was moved to the Castle of Bellver in Palma; and where they passed as travelers: Rubén Darío, Unamuno and Azorín. A whole pleasure to walk along their rooms full of memories … And before leaving Valldemossa it´s necessary to taste a typical warm chocolate in Aromas, Rose Street, 24 in some of its multitude of aromatic varieties. There also the vacacional residence of Michael Douglas and his foundation called Costa Nord.\n

Un poco más arriba de esta ciudad está Deià, famosa por haber alojado en vida al autor de “Yo Claudio”, Robert Graves, y aún sigue allí… enterrado en su cementerio.

Se puede visitar su casa, a las afueras, y contemplar desde lejos las maravillosas vistas de este enclave, que me recuerdan enormemente a Marruecos, y que ha sido refugio de intelectuales, músicos y artistas como: la escritora estadounidense, Gertrude Stein, la neoyorquina, Laura Riding, Julio Cortázar o Manuel de Falla.

Deià is a bit more above of Valldemossa, famous for having lodged in life the author of “I, Claudius”, Robert Graves, and he still continues there … buried at the cemetery. You can visit his house, to the suburbs, and contemplate from off wonderful views of this enclave, which remind me enormously to Morocco, and that has been a refuge of intellectual, musicians and artists as: the american writer, Gertrude Stein, the New Yorker, Laura Riding, Julio Cortázar or Manuel de Falla.

En Escorca está el corazón espiritual de la isla: el Monasterio de Lluc donde se venera la talla de la Virgen Negra.

Le sigue Sóller, con su llamativa iglesia de Sant Bartolomeu –que se cae a pedazos en el interior- de estilo gaudiano

y sus calles atravesadas por un tren de madera que te lleva al interior de la sierra.

Allí te recomiendo que hagas parada culinaria en Béns D´Avall, la nueva cocina balear de Benet Vicens y Catalina Cifre y que no te prives de los postres… Ya me contarás.\n\nIn Escorca the spiritual heart of the island is: Lluc's Monastery where there is venerated the height of the Black Virgin. And the other city above, called Sóller, with its Sant Bartolomeu's showy church - that falls to pieces in the interior - of style gaudiano and its streets crossed by a train of wood that takes you to the interior of the mountains. There I recommend you to do a culinary stop in Béns D'Avall, the new Balearic cuisine of Benet Vicens and Catalina Cifre and that you do not deprive yourself of the desserts … You´ll tell me.\n\n

Y esto fue, en resumidas cuentas nuestro viaje por la deliciosa isla de Mallorca de la que volvimos un viernes para asistir el sábado al II Festival Internacional de Cortos del Aljarafe celebrado en Espartinas (Sevilla) y cuyo ganador fue “Porque hay cosas que nunca se olvidan” del madrileño Lucas Figueroa.

And this was our trip for the delicious island of Majorca of which we returned on a Friday to be present on Saturday at the II International Festival of Short movies of the Aljarafe celebrated in Espartinas (Seville) and the winner was “Because there are things that can be never forgotten” by the Lucas Figueroa (Madrid).\n

El finde pasado me fui al centro de Sevilla a ver la recién restaurada Iglesia Colegial del Divino Salvador, segundo templo más grande de la ciudad después de la Catedral que dejó de ser mezquita para convertirse en parroquia cristiana en 1340, y donde su Majestad el Rey estuvo esa misma semana.

\nThe past weekend I went away to the center of Seville to see newly restored The Collegiate Church of the Divine Salvador, the bigger second temple of the city after the Cathedral that stopped being a mosque to turn into Christian parish into 1340, and where his Majesty the Spanish King was the same week visiting it. \n\n\n

Ya de paso, vi la exposición de piezas, expuestas en la plaza de la Iglesia, modeladas en cera por Salvador Dalí en su casa de Port Lligat (Gerona) y que sirvieron de molde para su fundido en bronce entre los años 1969 y 1976. Por cada una de las obras hay 8 reproducciones en bronce y 4 pruebas del artista. Las seis esculturas que se pueden ver en Sevilla son: “Carmen, La Crótalos” (1970), “Cristo de San Juan de la Cruz” (1974), “Tritón Alado” (1972), “Terpsícore” (1871), “Condottiero-Cabeza de Guerrero” (1975) y “Máscaro de acero-Talismán de la Suerte” (1973). Estarán allí hasta enero.

\nThe same day I saw the exhibition of pieces, exposed in the square of the Church, shaped in wax by Salvador Dalí in his Port Lligat's house (Gerona) and that were used as mold for his bankrupt in bronze between the year 1969 and 1976. For each of the works there are 8 reproductions in bronze and 4 proofs of the artist. The six sculptures that can be seen in Seville are: “Carmen, The Crótalos” (1970), “Christ of San Juan of the Cross” (1974), “Winged Newt” (1972), “Terpsícor” (1871), “Warrior's Condottiero-head” (1975) and “Máscaro of steel - talisman of the Luck” (1973). They will be there until January.
